The Roman villa excavation is now coming to an end. The latest findings showed that the porch of building 3 had been altered in order to make it into a larger square shape, rather than rectangular. Along one side of the porch was a series of post holes suggesting that a wooden fence had been built here. At the moment we are not sure why. In one of the post holes were the remains of an infant. Infants were sometimes be buried under the floor of Roman buildings. Perhaps this was to keep them close even after death?
