Last Tuesday the Hinkley outreach team ran a family drop in session ‘Amazing Archaeology’ at the Museum of Somerset in Taunton. Families were able to find out more about the work of archaeologists. Children had a go at excavating our ‘dig tray’ and writing and drawing about their finds. Their discoveries included animal skulls, Georgian coins, two Civil War pikes, clay tobacco pipe fragments and lots of pottery! Families were also able to sort and classify a similar range of excavated finds and learn more about post-excavation work.
